First Steps

I'm building this site as an expression of self. My goal is to build a site that houses my works and my beliefs, at the same time helping me to grow these, through this personal expression.

I will build most of the site using coding agents, and do a lot of the design assisted by agents and agentic tooling. The honest fact of it all is that using these tools to achieve what I want to achieve is not easy. The smoothing that LLMs bring about is something that I want to avoid (though seemingly unavoidable). Seeing as I'm setting out to make this a creative and expansive endeavor, I aim to find ways to avoid this effect. I don't want a generic looking Claude Design (though I'm fond of Claude Design's features) site. I want to learn about the tools, libraries, and frameworks I use to build this site, while I build it.

These writings, along with any additional artifacts I track, will be housed on this site as a kind of captain's log and a documentation of my growth and my learning through this build. This is an exploration of growth as much as it is an exploration of design.

It is becoming increasingly clear to many people how important it is to retain our humanity. I talk more about this in my substack article where I reflect on the past year and a half of engineering with agents. In summary, models are getting more and more powerful, but my human judgement finds more and more places it needs to be fit into what agents are doing. I plan to experiment with ways to maintain this judgement in the system I use to build this site.
